UNITED PARCEL SERVICEDescription The Attorney General of Florida has informed the School Board of a settlement in the case of United States of America v. United Parcel Service related to certain overcharges for deliveries. The Attorney General has indicated that this represents a favorable outcome of litigation. The School Board's share of the settlement proceeds are $42.22 and must be accepted by November 13, 2015. Correspondence from the Attorney General is attached.

39. APPROVAL OF BOOKER HIGH JROTC TO ATTEND A FIELD TRIP TO NORTH GEORGIA UNIVERSITY IN DAHLONEGA, GEORGIA ON NOVEMBER 13-15, 2015.Description The instructional connection with the JROTC program will consist of a college tour, military orientation and post graduate planning.
Recommendation That the Booker High JROTC to attend a field trip to North Georgia University in Dahlonega, Georgia on November 13-15, 2015 be approved as presented.
CONSTRUCTION
40. APPROVAL OF CONSTRUCTION MANAGER'S PRE-CONSTRUCTION SERVICES CONTRACT FOR THE SUNCOAST TECHNICAL COLLEGE SOUTH CAMPUS NEW CLASSROOM BUILDING AND COUNTY LIBRARY PROJECTDescription The project's scope of work shall include the construction of an approximately 90,000 square foot classroom building and shared media center/library and associated site improvements. The media center/library is a joint use facility with Sarasota County Schools and Sarasota County Government. On 10/6/2015 (Item #6), the School Board authorized negotiations with this company. On 10/8/2015, the Director of Construction Services and a member of the Professional Services Selection Committee (PSSC) met with a representative from Willis A. Smith Construction, Inc., to negotiate a contract for this project. This contract covers the pre-construction portion only for this project. The contract for construction will be negotiated separately at a later date. This contract amount is $110,000.00. These contract documents have been approved by the School Board attorney and are available for review at the Construction Services Department. The construction budget is approximately $18,000,000.00. Funds for this project are available in the capital budge account.
Recommendation That the construction manager's pre-construction services contract for the Suncoast Technical College South Campus New Classroom Building and County Library project be approved as presented.

APPROVAL OF AMENDMENT #2 TO ARCHITECT'S CONTRACT FOR THE SUNCOAST TECHNICAL COLLEGE SOUTH CAMPUS NEW CLASSROOM BUILDING AND COUNTY LIBRARY PROJECTDescription The scope of work for this amendment is to provide additional architectural and food service design services to design to design the Culinary Arts Program. This program was moved from Phase 2 to Phase 1 so was not included in the original contract.
The total amount for these changes shall not exceed $34,760.00. These funds are available through the project budget.
Recommendation That Amendment #2 to the Agreement dated February 17, 2015, with Schenkel & Shultz, Inc., for the Suncoast Technical College South Campus be approved as presented.

APPROVAL OF RANKING OF CERTIFIED AND QUALIFIED TESTING FIRMS FOR GEOTECHNICAL TESTING & MATERIALS TESTING, OR ANY PART THEREOF, AND THRESHOLD BUILDING INSPECTION SERVICES FOR A PERIOD OF THREE (3)-YEARSDescription The scope shall include geotechnical testing and materials testing or any part thereof, and threshold building inspection services for Sarasota County Schools for a period of three (3)-years. On 10/20/2015, the Professional Services Selection Committee (PSSC) met to select certified and qualified firms for this continuing services contract. The PSSC has ranked them in accordance with School Board Policy #7.71. The estimated cost of these services for the three (3)-year period is $700,000.00 Funds for these services are available through individual project accounts.
Recommendation That the ranking of certified and qualified firms for Geotechnical Testing & Materials Testing, or any part thereof, and Threshold Building Inspection Services for a period of three (3)-years be approved as presented and the Director of Construction Services be authorized to attempt negotiations with the three (3) top-ranked firms.

Minutes: Caroline Zucker said how much she and her husband enjoyed attending the Re-Accreditation celebration at Booker High School. The Student Representative, Robbie Hodgson, stated that he had given a speech that evening and also enjoyed it. Caroline Zucker also said she spent a day at Bay Haven reading science projects and she had learned a lot.
